Bootyard is a Ruby on Rail development and design shop from the Philippines.
In this video, we will be talking about our Weekly Roundup. Weekly Roundup is a video content wherein each team member shares their hardest problem that they have encountered in their tasks, the solution found to that problem and the valuable lesson that each team member learned from that problem.
Ademar: This week, I started cleaning up the `/lib` folder for one of our Rails project, LinkHunter.Business logic, API integrations, basically anything that’s not ActiveRecord code was thrown in the `/lib` folder. Inspired after watching DHH’s video series on writing software well, I embarked on a journey to moving business logic back to the models folder.
After moving files around, I found some hidden optimization workarounds which was pretty awesome!
Jescart: For this week, I’m optimizing SQL queries on LinkHunter. I’m also fixing the offenses found by Rubocop Gem.Thanks to Rubocop gem, It helps me figure out which part of the App is not using the Ruby best practices.
Gani: I worked mostly on the Blog feature for seostartupguide.com, a project here at Bootyard. Working on the Blog feature, I ended up with a large pull requests and that’s not ideal. I divided the large pull requests into smaller and more specific branches. It would make the pull request easier to review and make the reviewer happy.
Reah: This week, I was editing our weekly roundup videos. And i had to learn different tools like Windows Movie Maker and Microsoft Expression Coder. Expect more awesome videos in the coming weeks.
